flavour
Crafting this special tea requires a great level of skill and care. In order to create its distinctive flat, sword-like leaves and permeating nutty aroma, the leaves are hand pressed in a hot wok by a tea master.
The result of this skillful craftsmanship and spectacular terroir is a smooth, fresh green tea which, if brewed correctly, will have no hint of bitterness. Look for notes of roasted chestnut and freshly picked runner beans.
origin
One of China’s most well-known green teas, Dragon Well – also known as Longjing – is grown only in Zhejiang province in the east of the country. Farmer Weng Xiajiao harvests his high-grade leaves from tea bushes that grow wild on a remote mountainside in Chun'an County.
The century old bushes that were deserted by their original owner over thirty years ago and are now left to grow unfettered. The old bushes have long tap roots that absorb the rich nutrients from deep below the mountain’s topsoil. They grow at high altitude in the cool, pure clean air, producing wonderful flavour and aroma.
