Canton Tea is one of the UK’s leading loose leaf tea specialists. We are an independent British company founded by Jennifer Wood in London in 2007. We work with the premium hospitality sector: five-star hotels, Michelin-starred restaurants and savvy, passionate independents.


About the role

Tea is one of the fastest growing sectors in the UK speciality food industry at the moment. What a fantastic time to join us in sourcing the world’s best tea. As Trainee Tea Buyer your role will involve:


  • Assisting our Head of Tea with sourcing new and exciting teas from around the globe
  • Purchasing tea and tea ware direct from our trusted tea farms and suppliers
  • Helping us to lead the way with sustainable packaging materials
  • Scheduling activity outsourced to our UK packing facility
  • Maintaining our sales and purchases ledgers


About you

Commercially aware with a keen interest tea, you will be highly numerate, have excellent organisation skills and be able to work independently as well as part of a team. Ideally you will have some experience in a purchasing role, but this is not essential. If you are able to speak Mandarin that would be a bonus!


Terms and conditions

In return we can offer you opportunities to travel on tea sourcing trips, a competitive salary, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays and a contributory pension scheme. Ideally you will be able to work full time, but part time and flexible working options are negotiable for the right candidate. We are a small and friendly team and our office can be found on East Street in Bristol.
